I worked my first double tonight... 14 hours on my feet. (Well, 2 half-hour breaks were thrown in there somewhere.) I did not know feet could hurt this badly. Ouch.

My sister graduated last night. I was going to write a longish blog about how this makes me feel, how time flies, and how this sort of thing really makes one reassess one's life, past and future... but I cannot seem to get any of it into words. So I'm just going to say this:

Congratulations Lygon. I am more proud of you than you will ever know. You have shaped my life in more ways than you will know. You have already done so much with the life God has given you, I look forward with anticipation to what will develop for you in the future. I love you.
Please do not follow in my footsteps.

Life plods on...

Majority of the past week has been lacking. On Saturday, I interviewed for the scholarship I was hoping to use to pay for my master's degree. Though they were "very impressed with my interview" (like that is original), they chose someone else. Disappointing but I am still glad I went through the whole process of applying. I finally had to focus on my future... Something I have always avoided doing. I guess I felt that if I develop to firm of a plan, I might miss out on something else that could be more exciting. I hate to miss out on anything! The rest of the week was spent trying to prepare for the interview or working or sleeping. The work isn't so great. At least the girls I work with are great. It is nice to be surrounded by people who's biggest concerns are who is dating who, who asked who to the prom, and if they can wait until their paycheck comes to buy this "oh-so-cute" pair of shoes. Makes me laugh. It helps me keep a light-hearted perspective on life. One more thing that made this week rather depressing. Two of my best friends have had wonderful opportunities presented to them... out of state. One is heading back to New York in a week and the other is off to California in a couple weeks. (Of course, they could not at least head out of state in the same direction so I could visit them more easily!) It is hard to see friends who have become a part of the everyday life move away. It is like college graduation all over again. Everyone moves on to bigger and better things. However, this time, I'm still stuck here.

This week was not a complete loss though (I mean, besides all the life lessons I am sure I am learning somehow though all this depressing stuff). Carrie and I went to Denver Saturday night. We checked out a totally sweet jazz place that Carrie had discovered. Sambuca was eclectic, classy, and chic. Granted, we were probably the youngest there... but it was awesome! Though I have never enjoyed listening to jazz on the radio... dancing to a live band is completely different. One of the most novelty aspects about the place was the surprise lack of grinding and humping. Finally, guys who can ACTUALLY DANCE! Definitely hitting that place up a few more times this summer. After the live music was over around 12:45am, we headed over to the new "it" club in Denver to check it out. The amount of people made it a bit hard to dance... the term "sardines" comes to mind. Imagine a huge can of sardines, now imagine that they are alive and trying to mate, now throw in a beat - yeah. That was the Bash Nightclub. Had fun though... :D

I have the next two days off. Yay! I am so looking for another job! ;)
